REFUGE
Last week, we worshiped the Lord as our Prince of Peace. The only way we can truly experience His peace is by making Him our refuge during the storms of life.
Among Jesus final teachings to His disciples we find these words …
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
In this world we will have trouble. That is a fact. There will be moments when we feel that we can’t take another step or draw another breath because the struggles and trials are so overwhelming. It’s during these most trying times, that we can take heart. The overcomer of the world is our refuge. His gates are open wide just waiting on us to enter into His place of safety and protection.
What image comes to your mind when you think of a refuge? Is it a fort with walls that are impenetrable? Perhaps you envision a tower surrounded by raging seas. Maybe it’s a mountain top where you climb above the worries of this world. Or do you see it as an oasis in the middle of a dessert where your heart has languished far too long? However you imagine it, His refuge far exceeds anything we can visualize. It is indescribable. Inconceivable. It is a place of shelter that nothing on this earth can match.
Praise Him as your refuge this week. Run into the arms of Jesus!
Sunday Supplication
Holy God, my Refuge and my Strength, life is tough. Many of us are facing trials and hardships in our lives. There are days when our pain is so intense we can’t even breathe. The enemy prowls around us constantly seeking to steal our joy, our peace, and our very lives. But You, Lord Jesus, defeated our enemy the second you walked from that tomb. You overcame this world and all the troubles and struggles it slings our way. You opened a clear pathway to a place of safety that we can only find in You. Lord, this week, be our Refuge in times of trouble. Speak to our hearts, “Peace be still.” In The Name that is above every name, Jesus, we pray. Amen! So Be It!

Friday Fact
In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me. Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel. For you have been my hope, Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth. From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb. I will ever praise you. I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge. My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long. Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone.
