FRIEND
When you think of a best friend, who comes to mind?
For me a myriad of faces float through my brain. Some of those go back decades and others only a few years. Some I stay in touch with almost daily and others I may go weeks, months, or even years without connecting. Yet, when we do, it’s like we never parted.
There are many great quotes about friendship.
- Keep the ones that heard you when you never said a word. (Author unknown)
- I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light. (Helen Keller)
- Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. (Eleanor Roosevelt)
- What draws people to be friends is that they see the same truth. They share it. (C.S. Lewis)
Each of these quotes can be applied to what it’s like to have Jesus as our friend. The more time we spend with Him, the better we come to know Him.
The Bible tells us that Jesus is a friend of sinners. Do you ever struggle with a particular sin in your life and wonder if Jesus will give up on you and walk away? Because He is our friend, He will never throw our relationship away. He treasures us and longs to spend time with us.
This week as you praise Jesus as your friend, commit to spending more time with Him. Talk with Him as you would a friend with skin. Sit with Him and discover His truth through the word. Open your heart to Him and allow Him to be the best friend you’ve ever had.
Sunday Supplication
